Malcolm Liepke is a notable painter who was born in Minneapolis, MN in 1953, but then went on to study at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. After a year and a half of school, he ended up dropping out and instead decided to immerse himself in the work of famous painters he admired such as Edgar Degas, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, and Diego Velazquez. Using their work as inspiration, he created his own paintings which focus on portraying beautiful women in all sorts of glamorous poses. What drew me to his work initially, however, was his gorgeous use of color.
